Mac/Mimecast Integration

Will Mimecast integration for Macs ever happen in the same way as MSO for Windows?

Not that would provide any meaningful benefit to the end user. Mimecast for Outlook functionality is deeply integrated with the native Outlook process and specifically the send connector.

Apple and Microsoft are working on increasing the level of integration apps can have with each other, but this is at a very early stage. Apple have only just started to allow integration at all outside of Apple Scripts. We would need dedicated robust APIs from both vendors in order to integrate with the send process etc.

We continue to monitor forthcoming APIs via our NDA relationship with Microsoft, but the Outlook for Mac world is very different indeed to Outlook for Windows.

Is there some functionality inside of these new HTML based add-ins that can be utilized by Mimecast to support Outlook on the Mac?

Hi Tracy.

These are the light-weight HTML based add-ins which are very different from the heavily integrated COM add-ins the Windows version of Outlook allows for. These HTML add-ins are usually available for any user to install from the Windows store.
