Exporting Selected Messages to Microsoft Outlook


You can export all messages in an archive folder to a Microsoft Outlook folder. For this see the Mimecast for Outlook: Using Archive Folders page.

 

Exporting a MessageThis section covers how to select and export one or more messages from inside a folder to a Microsoft Outlook folder. This can be achieved from the:

  • Search results
  • Archive folders

 

To export one or more messages:

  1. Select the required messages.
  2. Click on the Export icon in the message's toolbar.
  3. Select the Microsoft Outlook folder to place the messages by clicking the arrow to the left of your email address.
  4. Click the OK button.  A progress notification popup dialog is displayed. This automatically closes when the export successfully completes, and a notification popup message is displayed.

 

Saving a Message to Outlook

 

A message can be saved to Microsoft Outlook, without using the export feature. This method of getting messages from your archive folders into Microsoft Outlook differs, in that you cannot select into which folder messages are placed. All messages are placed into the Inbox | Mimecast Saved Emails folder. If this folder does not exist, it is automatically created as part of the save process.

 

You can save a message from the following views:

  • Search results
  • Archive folders
  • Online Inbox
  • Online Sent Items

 

Save a MessageTo save a message to Microsoft Outlook:

  1. Select the required messages.
  2. Click the Save icon in the message's toolbar. A confirmation dialog is displayed once the messages have been saved.
  3. Click the OK button to close the confirmation dialog.

 

Saving a Message's Attachment

Saving an Attachment

You can save or open a message's attachment to a local / network drive, without exporting or saving the entire message.

 

To save or open a message's attachment:

  1. Select the message.
  2. Click on the Details link in the message. The attachments are displayed.
  3. Right click on the required attachment. A popup menu is displayed.
  4. Click on the Save menu item. 
  5. Select the folder to save the attachment in.
  6. Click the OK button. The file is saved to your chosen location.
