Your administrator may have configured you to use a cloud password to authenticate your log on when using Mimecast for Outlook. They may also have given you the ability to set or change your password. If so, this page describes how you can change your cloud password in Mimecast for Outlook.

If you use your cloud password in other applications (e.g. Mimecast Personal Portal) you'll need to ensure any cloud password made in Mimecast for Outlook is also applied there as well. Failure to do so will result in incorrect authentication in these other applications.

Mimecast for Outlook v7

 

To change your cloud password:

  1. Click on the Mimecast ribbon.
  2. Click on the Account Options icon in the General section. The Authentication Settings dialog is displayed.
  3. Click on the Cloud Authentication authentication method. You are asked to authenticate your logon.
  4. Enter your current Cloud Password.
  5. Click the Edit button. The Password Reset dialog is displayed.
  6. Complete the dialog as follows:

    Current PasswordEnter your current cloud password.
    New PasswordEnter a new cloud password.
    Confirm New PasswordRenter the new cloud password.
  7. Click the Change Password button. Your cloud password is changed.

 

Mimecast for Outlook v6.3 or Before

 

To change your cloud password:

  1. Click on the Mimecast ribbon.
  2. Click on the Account Options icon in the General section. 
  3. Select the Change Password button.
  4. Complete the dialog as follows:

    Current PasswordEnter your current cloud password.
    New PasswordEnter a new cloud password.
    Confirm New PasswordRenter the new cloud password.
  5. Click the Change Password button. Your cloud password is changed.
