This article describes how end users and moderators can manage their on hold queues. Messages can be released or rejected, either individually or in bulk. Addresses or domains can also be blocked when messages are released or rejected.

Applies To:

  • End users of Mimecast Mobile
  • Messages that have been held by security policies

Walkthrough

Your Administrator may have policies in place that put messages On Hold in Mimecast. These could be based on Spam, Attachment, or Content Examination Policies designed to prevent unwanted emails from reaching your Inbox. The Personal On Hold viewer allows you to view the held messages, and decide if you want to release or reject them.

If you do not release or reject a message from the On Hold queue, it is automatically removed after 14 days. You will still be able to retrieve the message from the Archive, if configured by your Administrator.

Rejecting Messages

To reject messages:

  1. Navigate to Personal On Hold in the main menu.
  2. Select a single or multiple emails (Mimecast Mobile v2.7 onwards).

Moderated On Hold

The Moderated On Hold viewer works in the same way as the Personal On Hold viewer, but displays messages Held for other users. For example, you may be able to manage Held emails for a colleague or your manager. This functionality must be enabled by your Administrator, and by default, will not show any messages.
