If your organization uses Google Apps with Mimecast, all mail including messages sent to internal recipients are routed through Mimecast.

Mimecast has observed that Targeted Threat Protection - URL Protect does not apply to links found in Google Calendar invitations that have been sent to an internal recipient. This can be resolved by creating a specific policy in the Administration Console.

Creating a URL Protection Policy

To create a URL Protection policy:

  1. Log in to the Administration Console.
  2. Click on the Services toolbar button. A menu drop down is displayed.
  3. Click on the Gateway | Policies menu item.
  4. Select the URL Protection list item.
  5. Click on the New Policy button.
  6. Provide a Narrative for the policy.
  7. Select the Definition you want to be applied from the "Select Option" drop down list.
  8. When setting the Emails From value,
    1. Change the Address based on field to "The Return Address (Email Envelope From)".
    2. Change the Applies From field to "Email Domain", and in the "Specifically" field input:
      calendar-server.bounces.google.com
  9. Set the Emails To value to "Internal Recipients".
  10. Select Save and Exit.
