Mimecast for Outlook: Managing Large File Send Attachments

The Large File Send Manager in Mimecast for Outlook is used to manage Large File Send attachments you've sent. The Large File Send Manager allows you to:

  • Extend access to attachments.
  • Expire access to attachments.
  • Cancel a file upload.
  • Resubmit / delete / restore a cancelled attachment.

 

Mimecast for Outlook v7

 

To access the Large File Send Manager in the Mimecast for Outlook client:

  1. Click on the Large File Send tab. A list of all of the active and expired files you have sent.
    If the Mimecast for Outlook client isn't open, click on the Mimecast ribbon and click on the Manager icon in the Send Large Files section.

Extending Access to Attachments

 

Manager File ListTo extend access to attachments:

  1. Click on the Set Expiry button to the right of the message whose attachments you want to extend access to.
  2. Use the Calendar to select a new expiration date.
    The maximum date you specify is displayed above the current expiry date.
  3. Click on the Set Expiry button.

 

Expiring Access to Attachments

 

To expire access to attachments:

  1. Click on the Expire button to the right of the message whose attachments you want to expire access. A confirmation dialog is displayed.
  2. Click on the Expire Download Link button. The link to the attachment is expired, meaning no one can access it.

 

Cancelling a File Upload

 

To cancel a file upload:

  1. Click on the Large File Send | Queue tab. A list of all files being uploaded is displayed.
  2. Click the Cancel button to the right of the message whose attachments you want to stop uploading. A confirmation dialog is displayed.
  3. Click on the Yes button. The upload is cancelled.

 

Resend / Delete / Restore a Cancelled Attachment

 

To resend / delete / restore a cancelled attachment:

  1. Click on the Large File Send | Cancelled tab. A list of all cancelled files is displayed.
  2. Click on one of the following button:
    • Resend to resend the attachment.
    • Delete to remove the attachment from the list.
    • Restore to move the attachment to your Drafts folder.
  3. Click on the Yes button in the confirmation dialog.

 

Mimecast for Outlook v6.1 or Before

 

To access the Large File Send Manager:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click on the Mimecast tab.
  3. Click on the Manager button in the "Large File Send" section. A list of all of the active and expired files you have sent.

 

Setting the Expiry of Large File Send Messages

 

While in the Large File Send Manager you can perform specific actions with the messages listed in the Sent tab, including,

  • Expire an active Large File Send message
  • Extend an active or expired Large File Send message
  • Monitor the download count of an attachment

 

Cancelling a Large File Send Message Upload

 

To cancel a Large File Send upload:

  1. Open the Queued tab in the Large File Send Manager. A list of messages and files currently being uploaded to Mimecast is displayed.
  2. Click the Cancel button against the message that you want to cancel.

 

Cancelled messages are displayed in the Cancelled tab. Whilst there, you can view any Large File Send messages that failed to be sent and choose to,

  • Resend to resend the attachment.
  • Delete to remove the attachment from the list.
  • Restore to move the attachment to your Drafts folder.

Restored messages can be found in Drafts folder of your mailbox.
