Professional Privacy policies allow you to override a Smart Tag Policy. This policy works in the same way as the Personal Privacy Policy. The only difference is in the name of the container. If you would like to bypass the Smart Tag policy for a professional reason, create it as Professional Privacy policy or for a personal reason create it as a Personal Privacy policy.

One example is if you have a Smart Tag policy in place for specific email traffic, a Professional Privacy policy can be configured to bypass the Smart Tag policy. This ensures that the message does not appear in the Smart Tag.

What you need

  • An Administrator Console logon with access to the Administration | Gateway | Policies menu item.

Creating a policy

To create a policy, follow the instructions in the Creating / Changing a Policy article, but using the following options:

Policy NarrativeProvide a description for the Policy to allow you to easily identify it in the future.
Preservation Time (Days)

Specify the number of days, based on the sent date of the email, which determines the length of time that the metadata of the message is stored in the Archive. This Policy cannot override the maximum Account Retention period, and can only be used for a subset of users.
