Stationery can be applied to broad ranges of emails, but there may be instances where exclusions from stationery are needed. For example, a policy may be set up to apply stationery to all emails sent to external addresses from the sales team. However the sales manager does not want this stationery to applied to these emails, or there may be one external address that the stationery is not needed for.


This can be handled by the stationery exclusion policy. When the exclusion policy criteria matches an email attributes, any stationery is not applied to that email.


A Stationery Exclusion policy determines if and when to exclude a Stationery Layout from an email. For example, an Exclusion Policy can be set to not apply the Stationery to a specific internal domain user. When this user sends an email, Mimecast will not apply the Stationery Layout, and will deliver the email to the intended recipient.

An Exclusion Policy will take preference over an Assignment Policy.

The Policy allows for centralized control of the exclusion of a Stationery Layout from an email, and is based on specific groups of users.  In this way, a Stationery Layout can be applied to all outbound emails being sent from an organization, with an exception in place.

  • An Administrator Console logon with access to the Administration | Gateway | Policies menu item.


Creating a Policy


To create a policy, follow the instructions in the Creating / Changing a Policy article, but using the following options:


Policy NarrativeProvide a description for the policy to allow you to easily identify it in the future.
Select Option

Specify whether to apply or exclude a stationery layout from email.
