This article outlines how to resolve slow Microsoft Outlook start times when both the Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Mimecast for Outlook add ins are installed.


Applies to:


  • Mimecast for Outlook versions up to v6.1 R1.
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM.




As Microsoft Outlook starts up, extended load times are experienced when both Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Mimecast for Outlook are installed together. When either of the add-ins are removed, Microsoft Outlook startup times improve.




The framework provider used by both Microsoft and Mimecast, Add-In Express, is working with Microsoft to resolve this issue. In the meantime, Mimecast has provided a change to Mimecast for Outlook in order to assist with the end user experience, until such time as this can be resolved in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM add-in.




Customers experiencing this issue in Mimecast for Outlook v6.1 R1 or below, should install Mimecast for Outlook v6.1 R2.
