This article outlines the key differences between Mimecast Personal Portal v2 and v3.
In this article:
New user interface and experience
Version 3 includes the latest Mimecast application branding and user interface design. Customers who have the Branding package option are able to deliver brand familiarization to the end-user experience.
Integrated Large File Send Manager
Full control of Large File Send attachments is now possible via Mimecast Personal Portal.
Send a Secure Message
Whilst composing a new message, the Send Using Mimecast Secure Messaging option is available from the toolbar.
New Smart Search experience
The new intuitive Smart Search experience is available from the Quick Search bar. Users have easy access to operators allowing them to begin to build complex archive search queries without any advanced knowledge. They simply begin to type their criteria and select the relevant options from the list. Each option is then added to the text box and relevant new options are displayed as additional text is entered.
Context switch to delegate mailbox
When selecting the user avatar, any delegate mailboxes are listed. Selecting a delegate context switches the experience into the delegate mailbox itself. All options visible in the UI from that point onwards are those of the delegate mailbox.
For end-users with multiple delegate mailboxes, the ‘Search’ option allows them to filter the list.
It is important to note that switching to a delegate mailbox will not elevate the application settings of the primary. For example, if the primary does not have the ability to compose but the delegate does, then the primary will not be able to compose even though they have switched to the delegate mailbox.
Switch between Live and Full view of Archive Folders
If permitted via Application Settings, end-users can now switch between Live View and Full View directly from the Archive Folders tree.
Dedicated knowledge base section
Mimecast Personal Portal v3 has a dedicated section in our knowledge base. This includes user guides tailored to the specific experiences and functionality delivered in this new version. Shorter targeted guides allow educators to create their own guides in accordance with the functionality available to their end-users.
