This article describes how Managed Senders can be used to control the email addresses and domains that send you messages.

Applies to:

  • End users of Mimecast Mobile

Benefits

Creating your own managed senders list allows you to:

  • Control your mailbox.
  • You don't need to contact an administrator to block / allow specific email addresses or domains.
The managed senders functionality only applies to the currently selected mailbox.

Walkthrough

Your managed senders list contains the following entries:

  • Blocked: Individuals or domains that have been prevented from sending you email.
  • Permitted: Individuals or domains that bypass spam checks performed on incoming email.
  • Auto Permitted: Individuals or domains that bypass spam checks performed on incoming email as a result of an Auto Allow Policy.
  • Trusted: Individuals that have been added to your list of trusted users. This is only available to accounts with Targeted Threat Protection - Attachment Protect enabled with the dynamic configuration delivery method set in an Attachment Protection Definition. See the  How Does Targeted Threat Protection - Attachment Protect Work? page for further details.

Permitted senders are legitimate external senders, that you wish to accept emails from. When you send an email to an external recipient, they are automatically added to the Auto Allow database. If this external recipient then sends you a message, all spam checks are bypassed. This is useful to prevent legitimate messages from being placed on hold incorrectly.
