Case Review App: Adding Comments to a Message

This guide describes how users can add short comments (up to 200 characters) to a message. This is useful to either:

  • Collaborate with other reviewers.
  • Add a reference as to why a message was marked in the chosen way.

You can add a comment at the same time as setting a message's status. See the "Changing a Message's Status and Adding a Comment" section of the Case Review App: Reviewing Messages page for full details.

Applies To...

 

  • End users with access to review messages captured by a Discovery Case.
  • End users wanting to add a comment to a message, but not set it's status.

 

Walkthrough

Comments cannot be edited or deleted once they've been added.

Adding comments to messages are specific to the selected review only. When a message is part of multiple reviews, comments added under one review will not be visible or available to other reviews. Comments are visible by all reviewers assigned to the review.

 

A comment can be added via one of the following methods:

  • Message toolbar icon.
  • Message footer.
  • Viewing a Message in a separate tab.

To add a comment to a message, without setting it's status, via the message's toolbar icon:

  1. Expand the Case Review in the hierarchy.
  2. Expand the Message Review level in the hierarchy.
  3. Click on one of the Statuses. The messages are displayed.
  4. Click on the required Message.
  5. Click on the Comment icon in the message's toolbar.
  6. Enter your Comment in the box provided.
  7. Click on the Post Comment button.

 

 

Adding a comment via a message's footerTo add a comment to a message, without setting it's status, via the message's footer:

  1. Expand the Case Review in the hierarchy.
  2. Expand the Message Review level in the hierarchy.
  3. Click on one of the Statuses. The messages are displayed.
  4. Click on the required Message.
  5. Click on the Comments tab in the message's footer. The button is suffixed with the number of existing comments on the message.
  6. Enter your Comment in the box provided.
  7. Click on the Post Comment button.

 

Adding a Comment via a Message's Tab

 

Adding a Comment via a Message tabBy default, when you click on a message, it is previewed in the same tab as the other messages. However you can open a message in it's own tab.  This allows you to focus on just that message's content.

To add a comment to a message, without setting it's status, via a message's tab:

  1. Click on the required Message tab.
  2. Enter your Comment in the box provided.
  3. Click on the Post Comment button.
