This guide describes how to access messages sent through Secure Messaging but whose expiration date has passed.
- Administrators trying to access messages sent by end users through the Secure Messaging portal, but where the message expiration date set by the sender has expired.
When a message is sent securely through Secure Messaging, an expiration date is applied to it. The maximum retention date for a secure message is 30 days. The recipient must access the message before this date. If they don't, the link they receive to access the Secure Messaging Portal is no longer valid and they'll be unable to access the message.
To access an expired secure message, the sender of the email can look in their Sent Items in Outlook and can extend the expiry date. The recipient won’t be able to perform an archive search for the expired secure message, as their access to the content has finished.
