Accessing Protected Knowledge Base Pages

The Mimecast Knowledge base is by default available to any internet user. However certain pages are protected, necessitating users to authenticate before access is provided. This guide describes how to access any Knowledge Base pages that are protected, so they can only be seen by Mimecast customers.




We're committed to providing comprehensive documentation on our products. This includes configuration and best practice settings that can be used by you to protect your company from an attack. However we have to strike a balance between making our documentation easy to access, and protecting the documentation others may find and use to launch attacks against you.




To protect you from such attacks, some pages are located in a secure Knowledge Base area that require users to logon and authenticate themselves. As this can only be completed by Mimecast customers, we prevent access to those trying to use our documentation to circumnavigate your cyber security settings. This is the case regardless of whether you try to access the Knowledge Base from:

  • The Mimecaster Central community
  • The Administration Console search field.
  • A URL to a protected Knowledge page.




Mimecast Logon DialogWhen you try to access a protected page, a Mimecast Logon dialog is displayed. This is the logon page for our Mimecaster Central community that contains the Knowledge Base.


To access the Knowledge base page

  1. Enter your Mimecaster Central Logon.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Enter your Mimecaster Central Password and Password Type (e.g. Cloud / Domain).
  4. Click Log In.
