Phishing MetricsThis guide describes how administrators can access the analytics collected by a phishing campaign. Once a phishing campaign is active (i.e. the start date has been reached) statistical data is collected on each user's participation. 


To access the analytics:

  1. Click on the Phishing toolbar button.
  2. Click on the Campaigns button.
  3. Click on the Campaign Name.


The following information about each user participating in the campaign can be displayed in columns. You can select the columns displayed by clicking on the Edit Table button.

  • Department: Displays the user's department.
  • Status: Displays whether the user has clicked the phishing campaign's link in the email.
    • Opened: The user has opened the message but hasn't clicked on the phishing campaign link.

      This status is based on a tracking pixel. If you're blocking images, you won't receive an opened status.

    • Clicked: The user has opened the message and clicked on the phishing campaign link.
    • Submitted: The user opened the message, clicked on the phishing campaign link, and submitted their information.
    • Sent: The user has received the phishing campaign but hasn't opened the message.
    • Not Sent: The user hasn't received the phishing campaign.
  • Training Status: Indicates if the user has completed a phishing training module. Clicking on the tick box displays the module they've completed.
  • Times Clicked: Displays the number of campaigns the user has received, and the number of times the user has clicked on a campaign's link. For example if the column shows "1/3", the user has received three phishing campaigns but only clicked on the link in one.
  • Reaction Time: If a user has clicked on the phishing campaign's link, their reaction time is recorded. This is the time from opening the email to clicking the link.
  • Click Time: Displays the time a user took to click on the phishing campaign's link.
  • Custom Fields: If custom fields have been added, these can also be displayed. See the Configuring Custom Fields page for further details.


Exporting the Campaign's Analytics


You can export the user data from any phishing campaign to an .XLSX file, complete with any custom fields added to the user records.


To export the phishing campaign's analytics:

  1. Click on the Export button.


The file created is downloaded to your browser's download location, and is called "phishing_<account>_<campaign>.xlsx" where:

  • <account> is your Ataata account name.
  • <campaign> is the phishing campaign name.


For example, if your account is called "Mimecast" and the campaign is called "Phishing for Finance", the file would be called "phishing_mimecast_phishingforfinance.xlsx"


Creating a Group

Adding a Group

You can create a group from the phishing campaign's analytics. Once created it is available from your settings. See the Mimecast Awareness Training: Managing Groups page for further details.


To create a group

  1. Select the Users to be added to the group.
  2. Click on the Create Group button.
  3. Enter a Group Name.
  4. Click on the Create Group button.
