Authenticating Mimecast for Outlook

To get the most from the Mimecast for Outlook plugin, you must authenticate your logon. Your administrator defines the authentication method you can use. This can be:

  • Automatic: You continue using Microsoft Office as normal.
  • Manual: A dialog is displayed when you start Microsoft Outlook requiring you to enter your credentials.

Your administrator may have defined more than one authentication method. Read the Mimecast for Outlook: Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) Connectivity page for more details.

To check on the authentication methods your administrator has defined:

  1. Select the Mimecast ribbon.
  2. Select the Account Options icon in the General section. The Authentication Settings dialog is displayed:

  3. Select an Authentication Option.
  4. Enter your Password.
