This guide describes how end users can disable / enable the Mimecast Security Agent on their device. This requires you to have a password provided to you by your administrator.

 

Obtaining Your Password

 

MSA Copy Your PasswordTo obtain your password:

  1. Log on to the Administration Console.
  2. Click on the Administration toolbar menu item.
  3. Select the Web Security | Agent Settings menu item.
  4. Click on the Settings tab.

 

  • Either:
    • Click on the Copy Password button under Tamper Protection.
    • Click on the Generate Password button if one does not exist.

 

MSA on WindowsDisabling / Enabling the MSA on Windows

 

To disable / enable the Mimecast Security Agent on Windows:

  1. Click on the Mimecast Security Agent icon from the system tray.
  2. Click on the Preferences button.
  3. Enter the Disabler Password provided to you by your administrator.
  4. Click on either the:
    • Disable button to disable security on the agent.
    • Enable button to enable security on the agent.

 

Disabling / Enabling the MSA on MacOS

 

To disable / enable the Mimecast Security Agent on macOS:

  1. Click on the Mimecast Security Agent icon in the menu bar. The home drop down menu is displayed.
  2. MSA Mac DisableClick on the Preferences menu item.
  3. Click on either the:
    • Enable Agent button to enable protection on the agent.
    • Disable Agent button to disable protection on the agent.
  4. Click on the OK button.
